Bridget Weisenburger Presented Paper During University of Dallas Philosophy Senior Conference

2015 Mar 6

Bridget Weisenburger of Pemberville, Ohio, was one of 12 University of Dallas senior philosophy majors to present a paper during the Department of Philosophy's Fourth Annual Philosophy Senior Conference on Saturday, Feb. 28. Weisenburger presented a paper called "Subsidiarity and MacIntyre's Critique of Individualism." The one-day conference, "Citizenship," considered foundational notions such as equality, rights and duties, belonging, participation and alienation, autonomy and community, and the dignity of the human person.

In their Senior Seminar the philosophy majors studied various theories of citizenship and examined a variety of contemporary issues that affect our understanding of what it means to be a citizen. Their study culminated in a senior thesis and a public presentation based upon the thesis.
