Claire Blute Presents Chemistry Research

2017 Oct 10

Claire Blute, a junior Chemistry major from Jersey Village, Texas, was one of ten University of Dallas students to present research to a panel of university chemistry professors.

Blute's research, "Two Perspectives: The Unification of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry in Understanding the Complex Pathology and Treatment of Tuberculosis," examined tuberculosis, an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Blute completed her research at AbbVie Labs during the summer of 2017.

Undergraduate research is a requirement for the university's B.S. degrees in both chemistry and biochemistry; it is most frequently completed during the summer after a student's junior year either at the University of Dallas in Irving or another research institution.
