Deborah Corpening Performs in 'Twelfth Night' at the University of Dallas

2011 Nov 7

Deborah Corpening, of Austin, Texas, is performing in William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" at the University of Dallas Margaret Jonsson Theater from Nov. 2-13. Performances of the haunting, somber comedy are Tuesday-Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Corpening portrays Viola in the play, which is directed by Drama Department Chair Kyle Lemieux and considered to be one of Shakespeare's most mature comedies. While "Twelfth Night" was most likely performed in 1603, the University of Dallas production is set in 1890s Russia, heightening the naturalism and parallels to Anton Chekhov's four master comedies.
