Keenan Flynn Presents Chemistry Research

2017 Oct 10

Keenan Flynn, a junior Biochemistry major from Artesia, New Mexico, was one of ten University of Dallas students to present research to a panel of university chemistry professors.

Flynn's research, "The Utility of Household Bleach in Chlorinating Activated Aromatic Compounds," examined aromatic compounds including ortho-cresol and 1-methyl indole. Flynn completed his research at the University of Dallas during the summer of 2017.

Undergraduate research is a requirement for the university's B.S. degrees in both chemistry and biochemistry; it is most frequently completed during the summer after a student's junior year either at the University of Dallas in Irving or another research institution.
