Michael Byers Presents Paper during University of Dallas Philosophy Senior Conference

2012 Mar 21

Michael Byers of Front Royal, Va., was one of 22 University of Dallas philosophy students to present a paper during the Department of Philosophy's inaugural Philosophy Senior Conference on Saturday, March 17. Byers's paper was entitled "No App for That: Why External Memory will Never Replace the Human Mind." The one-day conference, "Philosophical Aspects of the Digital Age," addressed the impact of the digital age on human life and culture.

"The idea of the conference was to bring the riches of the Western philosophical tradition to bear on a burning contemporary issue," explained Philosophy Department Chair Philipp Rosemann. "I am very proud of the job that our students have done. The papers were so outstanding that many in the audience compared their quality favorably with presentations at professional philosophy conferences."
