Trae Hampton Presents Chemistry Research

Trae Hampton, a senior Biochemistry major from Paducah, Kentucky, was one of ten University of Dallas students to present research to a panel of university chemistry professors.

Hampton's research, "The Synthesis of Silylated Tetrahydropyrans from Organosilanes," examined silylated tetrahydropyrans, which are molecules involved in many medicinally relevant compounds. Hampton completed his research at the Universidad de Valladolid during the summer of 2016.

Undergraduate research is a requirement for the university's B.S. degrees in both chemistry and biochemistry; it is most frequently completed during the summer after a student's junior year either at the University of Dallas in Irving or another research institution.
