Scholarships Awarded to Incoming Students

The University of Dallas is proud to announce the winners of several scholarships for incoming students. UD will welcome ten recipients of the Scholars of Excellence award to the Class of 2028. Scholars of Excellence are recognized for academic merit and receive full-tuition scholarships. The Crusader Scholarship, inaugurated this year, covers full tuition costs for five well-rounded students who best represent what it means to be a UD Crusader. Finally, the UD Homeschool Scholarship is a $5,000 annual scholarship provided to one exemplary high school senior attending homeschool. Director of Admission Carey Christenberry congratulated the winners and welcomed them into the Crusader community. "The winners of these scholarships represent the very best and brightest of the Class of 2028, which is saying a lot, since the Class of 2028 as a whole is remarkable," Christenberry said. "These winners represent what it means to be a Crusader: someone who seeks truth, wisdom and virtue as the purpose of education."

Latest Cohort of UD 'Romers' Completes Semester Abroad

As the school year comes to a close, University of Dallas sophomores have completed a semester to remember, with much of the class having recently returned from UD's campus in Rome. The Rome trip is a fundamental part of the UD undergraduate experience. "Romers" spend one of their sophomore semesters at the Due Santi campus, a repurposed Italian villa whose name bears witness to the traditional meeting of the two saints Peter and Paul on the Appian Way. Though classes primarily take place in Due Santi, students also travel around the Mediterranean to see for themselves the settings of the classic texts they've read for the Core Curriculum.

Undergraduate Research Symposium Features Student Work

Undergraduate students presented their scholarly work at the third annual Undergraduate Research Symposium of the University of Dallas recently. Project topics included the medieval art and architecture of Gotland, a psychological investigation of birth control, aircraft materials, fatal pathogens, coral reefs and more. Several students had already shown their work at national conferences or successfully submitted their research for publication. "I think the symposium is one of the most important events that we have on campus because it is a celebration of our students and the work they have generated as a result of their UD education," said Chemistry Department Chair Ellen M. P. Steinmiller, Ph.D, who helped establish the event. Steinmiller added that UD students have conducted their laboratory research both on campus and around the country. "UD has a rich history of students being selected to conduct research at other universities in the summer through programs such as the highly competitive National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF REU)," Steinmiller said. "Other students are presenting work that they conducted in UD faculty research labs." Initially focused on the sciences, Undergraduate Research Day has since expanded to include projects in the humanities and art exhibitions.
