The following local students were among a contingent of University of Dallas students and campus ministers that traveled New Orleans or Kansas City, Mo. in March for this year's Alternative Spring Break (ASB). In Kansas City, students volunteered with A Simple House, helping prepare and deliver meals to homeless people and to repair the house that serves as a base for the group's ministry. In New Orleans, students repainted crypts at a Catholic cemetery and worked at The Arc, a community center for people with mental and physical disabilities, and Capstone, an organization that fixes houses damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Local students will be some of the first University of Dallas (UD) students to participate in UD's new cooperative degree program with Texas Woman's University (TWU) in nursing. Participating students will graduate in five years with a bachelor's degree in biology from UD and a bachelor's of science degree in nursing from TWU.
