UDallas Students Present 'Junior Poet'

Forty-five University of Dallas juniors recently completed "Junior Poet," in which each student selects a poet and conducts a major research project on that poet and his or her body of work, culminating in a half-hour presentation to a panel of three faculty members. "Junior Poet" is required of all English majors in order to satisfy degree requirements, though students from outside majors often choose to take the course as well.

UDallas Sophomore Receives University's First Trjitzinsky Memorial Award

Sophomore Mary Kate Tomassi, BA '20, "embodies the diligent student who loves learning mathematics," explained Assistant Professor of Mathematics John Osoinach, as faculty and students gathered in Constantin Garden on Wednesday, Nov. 15, to honor Tomassi's achievement as UD's first recipient of the Waldemar J. Trjitzinsky Memorial Award. UD was one of seven schools in the country selected by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) to bestow the award on one worthy student who plans on pursuing a career in mathematics.

UDallas Volunteers Support Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

Beginning in the early morning on Sept. 1 and lasting well into the afternoon, groups of students, faculty and staff displayed their support for the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts as they volunteered with the Dallas-based nonprofit Trusted Worlds. Volunteers gathered supplies and donations on campus and provided assistance at the Trusted Worlds Hurricane Harvey donation site in North Dallas.

UDallas Soccer Player Earns Scholar-Athlete Award for 2nd Consecutive Year

Trae Hampton, a rising senior on the University of Dallas men's soccer team, earned the Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2016-17 academic year. This is the second straight year Hampton has received the honor. The award is handed out annually to the letter-winning varsity student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average.

Jessie Koster, a 2017 graduate and four-year letter winner with the University of Dallas volleyball team, was nominated for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Woman of the Year. Koster was among 197 female student-athletes to be nominated in NCAA Division III, and among 544 candidates in all NCAA divisions.
